Augmentative Communication Program, Boston Children's Hospital
"In 2023 we were able to broaden Dr. Schlosser's role across the programs by creating the role of Research Design Consultant to our full clinical staff, further entrenching his status as a keystone in our research community. His expertise in research design and practical application has raised the entire team's capability to navigate and contribute to scholarly research. Dr. Schlosser has provided significant professional development and mentoring of staff: identifying and organizing research interests of clinicians, mentoring participants on process of developing inclusion checklists, scoping reviews, data extraction, retrospective chart reviews, developing inclusion criteria, sampling and data analysis methods. In addition, he has been mentoring on the complexities of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) application process and authorship for research outcomes." (John Costello, Director, Augmentative Communication Program, Boston Children's Hospital)
"Dr. Schlosser's vast experience, arsenal of resources, informative training materials, and scholarly references has been invaluable, but it is his personal commitment to our mission, demonstrated by his consummate preparation and willingness to engage readily with staff, that truly distinguishes his service." (John Costello, Director, Augmentative Communication Program, Boston Children's Hospital)
"....a transformative leader who has a proven track record of instilling a robust research culture within a clinical context" (John Costello, Director, Augmentative Communication Program, Boston Children's Hospital
Fayetteville-Manlius Central School District
"Dr. Schlosser was the leading researcher in a successful three-year research project in the Fayetteville-Manlius School District to study the efficacy of the Visual Immersion System (VIS) in a special education classroom for children with autism spectrum disorder. This was the first time that the VIS was studied as part of a coaching intervention involving a coached a special education team in a public school setting. Dr. Schlosser skillfully balanced the goal to implement a rigorous study in a practice setting while being mindful of the needs of the school team and the children they served. The results of his impressive coaching efforts demonstrated significant improvement in the students' communication skills and those students continued to make substantial progress in communication/language, academics and social skill development in the years following the three-year research project" (Lisa Miori-Dineen, Assistant Superintendent, Special Services, Fayetteville-Manlius School District).
"As the Visual Immersion System gained in popularity and expanded in scope it became clear that the approach could also serve as an enhancement to classrooms for children on the autism spectrum. To that end Ralf put together a 3-year classroom interventional study that explored the efficacy of the VIS in a substantially separate classroom in a public school. That three-year investigation was published in 2020. Importantly, it is one of but a few research endeavors that studied an entire clinical package in a natural environment from the ground up." (Dr. Howard Shane, Director Emeritus, Communication Enhancement Center, Boston Children's Hospital)
